The Affects of Severe Winter Weather

Image
The most perfect day while traveling via plane you hope for clear skies, low speed winds, and not a rain cloud in the sight. Am I right? Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world and if we're super lucky, the plane has off boarded and would be clean on time. Delayed flights aren't particualy avoidant, especially in aviation. Weather hazards (i.e. heavy rainfall, snow, dense fog, or even low clouds) can have a direct impact on flight safety and operations. The wrong call could result in fatal consequences if a flight plan isn't correctly executed. I n mid-January 2024,  Arctic air spilled south from Canada and wandered for several days over United States. With this chill, it brought a fridged mix of cold temperatures, freezing rain, and snow that expanded from the Pacific Northwest all the way to the East Coast. Worldwide delays were a result of the week long blast and resulted in  delays totaled 25,419 with  4,150 cancellations.  Southwest Airlines leads in the U.

Cybersecurity in Aviation

Image
Major carriers like British Airways, American Airlines, and Southwest Airlines have fallen victim to cyber breaches. The outcome resulted in the theft of sensitive information, including payroll and applicant data. These attacks not only compromise sensitive data but also disrupt critical operations, leading to potential financial losses and damage to the airlines reputation. January 9, 2024, Kenya Airways (KQ) was under attack by cybercriminals. They obtained sensitive information such as contact details and identification documents of both passengers and staff. They also retrieved access to police investigation reports, phone numbers, email addresses, and passports of an unspecified number of people who were past passengers and staff.        Even with the influx of recent technology and advancements, certain operational technology systems remain outdated and susceptible to cyberattacks. For example, outdated systems by the FAA in the United States can potentially expose the indus

Autonomous Aviation and the Future

Image
Unmanned systems are the future. They give hope for this futuristic metropolis you only see in movies along with the idea of flying cars and time travel. That may be a little dramatic but when you think of the future, revert to the first time you've ever seen a Futurama episode. Autonomous aviation is advancing not only military intelligence and technology but also improving operations and aircraft utilization. Autonomy will reduce costs and enable better use of our airspace and it is projected by the 2040's, aviation will be entirely autonomous or mostly automated. Is that a good thing, though? If technology is our future, do you think America is the only nation chasing this dream? Because of the many great benefits that autonomous systems bring, counter-drone technology is significant.  Vehicle Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE)      Mid-2023 with the ongoing war with Ukraine and Russia, the United States sent over $75 billion of assistance which
